My heart is sad at the loss of Artie's physical presence among us.  He was such a delightful man to know, one whose laughter was as infectious as his broad smile! I remember the great conversations we shared around the table when he would join us (Anne Marie and I) for lunch.  I loved his scientific mind, always learning, questioning, and growing in wisdom!

Having met Artie in the late 1960's, we "go way back" as they say!  When Artie "upgraded"  to DVDs, I was privileged to receive all his old VHS tapes on which he'd recorded 3 movies on every single one--hundreds through the years! His "viewing pleasure" became mine as well!  Artie had great taste in movies!

My heart goes out to you, Anne Marie, on the death of your dear Artie, who you loved so deeply, fiercely, and wholeheartedly. You were fortunate to have him as your partner for these many years, but Artie was equally blessed to have so very loving, devoted,  and caring a wife as you. I know how very much you loved Artie.

My prayer, love and care is also extended to Jeremy, who surely was the "apple of Artie's eye"--his greatly beloved son--and to Kristin, little Brynn, and all Artie's loved ones.   May we continue to "perceive" Artie's energetic, spiritual presence with us and among us... as we remember that we each die "into the Universe," becoming one with All That Is!  Blessings and love, dear Anne Marie!

I met Arthur & Anne Marie when my wife Erika and I bought their house in Pelham in 2015. We instantly liked them both. Arthur was always generous of heart and advise. I reached out to him multiple times to ask his advise on maintaining the pool and he was always generous with his advise. While living in his old home, I always felt his loving presence and the care with which he maintained his home. He was also kind enough to leave me a lot of his books and I will cherish them dearly. Even though we hadn't known each other long, I am still stunned at how quickly he was taken away from this world and I will grieve his absence and cherish his memory every time I pick up one of his books. A human's success in life is truly measured by how the person is missed when he/she has moved on. By that measure, he sure had a mighty life.

After Don planted sunflowers seeds in our garden to honor my brother, these plantings now stand proud, strong and majestic!  The sunflowers are even smiling the gentle, genuine smile that always radiated from Artie.

Soon these flowers will go to seed, scatter, root and blossom again-very much like Artie's life.  He always bloomed so magnificently where ever he was planted.  And right now and for always, Artie's remarkably beautiful spirit continues to blossom in the hearts of his dearest Anne Marie,
cherished son, Jeremy and loving family and friends.

Thank you dear brother for all the sunshine you gave and continue to
give to my life.   Love, Sis

Dear Anne and family members.  As a member of tne Marist Brothers community in the 50's, I am so aware of the spirit that existed among the Marist students, and Brothers.  Artie, a dedicated member of the community was a  remarkable member and good friend to all. The many tributes speak well about this wonderful man.  I did not share class with Artie but feel  closeness to him which has been shared with so many others.  May Artie rest in peace as he awaits his many friends.  May God bless you and all your family.   JMJ...Rich

Dear Aunti Anne and Jeremy,

I love you guys so much and loved uncle Artie just as much. I miss him and remember talking with him at the holidays and other functions when we would get together. He was always interested in what I was doing and what was going on in my life. He always had good advice and knowing how smart he was I was always eager to listen. I also know that him and my father loved enjoying Manhattans together when they were younger and loved to hear story's about it. I will always miss him and if there is anything ever needed I hope you know that I'm a phone call away and am always available.

With Love,
Brian, Dawn, Ayla and Brenna

I have known about Artie and his work since the sixties. Although I did not have the opportunity to work directly with him, his Selfless Love for others was a dimension of his life that radiated.  I personally am grateful Artie's love and that of his family.

When I think of Uncle Artie I instantly picture him smiling because that's what he was always doing! I remember him helping me sort through the hundreds (or maybe thousands) of movies before I had my surgery so I would have something to keep me busy during my recovery. I hadn't thought about that day in all these 20+ years but when I heard he had passed, that memory popped right into my head. Maybe he's the one who shared it with me!

Auntie Anne Marie and Jeremy, sending lots of prayers and love and so many hugs your way.

Love, Lindsay xoxo ❤️❤️❤️

Mrs. Lavigne, Jerry, and family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Mr. Lavigne was always so welcoming and I really enjoyed our chats when stopping by to see Jerry. He always had a huge smile on his face and a sweet little chuckle when amused... that's exactly how I remember him. I feel lucky to have known him. May he now rest in peace.

Kindest Regards,
Cheryl

My dearest, dearest sister,  I just have to tell you how very, very proud I am of you, especially today.  Your MOST DIFFICULT yet you at your VERY, VERY BEST.  I cannot conceive even doing a small portion of what you pulled off.  You BOTH amazed us.  There are no words to say how beautifully done Artie's service was.  Jeremy paid his dad all the honor and love Artie SOO deserved.  I could just feel Artie beaming w/pride and love for his wife, son and family.  Your love, so present, your few words said it all.  Your wonderful son, wife Kristin and Brynn (what an angel).  Artie's family was also so kind and loving during their most heartfelt pain.

Mark and I want you to know that we are here for you, remember that and please don't forget it.  May the good Lord's blessings shine upon you daily and give you the courage, strength and love you will need and so deserve.

Compliments to:  Father Andre Gosselin for such a beautiful mass.  It was difficult for him as well for he loss his good buddy.

Compliments as well to: Kristin, wife of Jeremy, for doing such a beautiful spread of Artie's life which showed soo many sides of him and the common denominator was "his warm smile".

Dear Lavigne Family,
I'm so sorry for your loss.  Artie will be missed.  I will fondly remember his contagious laugh, his kind heart and his happy smile.  I remember him on the sidelines of every game cheering Jerry and the team on, he was a devoted father and fan.  It feels like yesterday where he would greet us upon entering the house watching his favorite sports or one of his so many movies.  I spent a lot of my high school years in and out of the house and he and his  family treated me as one of their own and for that I thank you all.  Rest In Peace.

My sympathies to Anne Marie, Jeremy, Kristin,Brynn and the Lavigne Family!

Artie was truly a gem and always a pleasure to be around. I will remember him for his twinkling blue eyes, smile, and goodness. But especially his endearing chuckle. I loved it when Artie asked a question and really wanted to hear what your answer was. It felt that he was intrigued with how you would respond so that he could reflect and then would give it his full consideration.  Artie had such a  gift of tenderness and  had such a generous spirit living life from the inside out. I will always remember Artie's kindness and that special glowing smile which was contagious with anyone he came in contact with. I remember an incident when I couldn't walk after tearing a muscle  in martial arts - back in the day. Artie was called and without hesitation quickly arrived to drive my car home so that my husband Richard could take me to the doctors. Yes Artie, you will be greatly missed!
Soo much love,
Bhavani

Artie touched everyone he met.
Tina and I would like to share these words from Viktor Frankl
" ... In the past, nothing is irretrievably lost, on the contrary, everything is irrevocably stored and treasured. To be sure, people tend to see only the stubble fields of transitoriness but overlook and forget the full granaries of the past into which they have brought the harvest of their lives: the deeds done, the loves loved, and last but not least, the sufferings they have gone through with courage and dignity."

Artie’s welcoming and friendly smile is what is present to us as we write this note. We are also deeply aware of his courage and determination as he walked the most challenging journey of these past several years. He was certainly loved by all who met him. That love was most clearly evident in your unflinching devotion, Anne Marie, as you walked beside him and supported him every step of the way. His joys were your joys, and his pain and disappointments were shared by you as well.

May you, Anne Marie, Jeremy, Kristin, Brynn, and all his family, relatives, and friends find peace in the love that he shared with all of us.

Our deepest and heartfelt sympathy,

Dear Anne Marie and Jeremy(Jerry), this loss saddens me deeply. You all welcomed me in your home and family since I was about 10. Your home was like a second home to me. I have countless summer days there in your pool, many nights watching movies or sports in your living room. Or playing soccer in your yard. And every time no matter the circumstances. Artie was there welcoming me with a smile, food, or anything i needed to show me I was a part of your family. He supported me through soccer and basketball games whether I needed a ride or just great encouragement. I was never as talented as Jeremy and our friends but that never stopped Artie from cheering me on and telling me how well I did. He was such a main stay in my life for so long. I couldn't imagine growing up in a better situation than for having him there for me so many countless times.

When I think of Artie a Smile comes to my face!!  I so enjoyed his gentle nature and always felt conversation came so easily with him.  First comes to mind is his eagerness to dance to the song ~ "Jeremy was a Bullfrog". I would get up on the dance floor just to join in on his excitement.
I always felt his Love for Family especially. He was a simple man that so appreciated and only expected ~ " Just was was Free in Life and no more!! He always smiled when he'd witness Anne Marie and I in our crazy laughter and say, "I so enjoy hearing you both laugh; you love one another so very much"
I Love you Artie and I Salute your Fantastic Life with great Pride to have had you as my Brother in Law and You surely will be missed!

Artie's light (his goodness, caring and humor) will shine forever in our hearts; and he will be sorely missed by his family and so many who loved him.

My hope is that somewhere in this vast, essentially loving universe of unbounded energy and infinite possibilities there is a "cosmic" copy of Darwin's "Origin of Species" and a chilled Manhattan ready to welcome him home.  Then we can know Artie is truly in heaven.

Anne Marie, Jeremy and all your family and friends who loved him so very much may you (we) find peace in the midst of our grieving.

Lovingly offered by Lois Andrews
