Gilbert H. Monty

Gilbert H. Monty, 85, of Pelham, died peacefully on Thursday, January 26th in Salem, NH.  He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Charlotte M. (Runge) Monty who died September 29, 2015.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, the son of the late Albert F. and the late Therese R. (Goyette) Monty, he attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.
Before retiring, Gil was employed as an Electronics Technician with Mitre Corporation in Bedford, MA for over 30 years, where he worked on many of this nation’s advanced defense technology projects. Much of his work was top secret in nature, and he travelled extensively around the world.
While in high school, he started his own television repair business and completed an in-depth program in television and radio repair.  Among his many interests, Gilbert loved to tinker in his basement, and garage, and was a hobbyist inventor, he could fix anything.  He loved working outdoors, and was always eager to help others. He enjoyed spending time with his family at holidays and family gatherings.  An avid lover of trips to the beach, every New Year's Day, he and Charlotte would hop into the car and drive to Hampton Beach where they would spend the day together. Gil was also a lover of the White Mountains where he would often travel to go exploring for rock and minerals, and also panning for gold.
Gilbert is survived by his two daughters, Deborah Monty and her husband Richard Brodeur of Derry, NH, and Ellen Lurie and her husband Keith of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his two grandsons Christopher Monty and his wife Janessa of Derry, NH, and Michael Lurie of Houston, TX; as well as two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Norah Monty; two sisters Carmen Cossette and her husband Leonard of Springfield, MA and Constance Trombly of Dracut, MA; a brother Ronald Monty of Baltimore, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
