Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother

Joan M. (Morin) Straughan, 78, of Pelham, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14th at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Stephen V. Straughan who survives her and with whom she celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 16th of this year.
Born in Dracut, Massachusetts, February 5, 1939, a daughter of the late Peter and the late Mabel (Harbour) Morin, she received her education in the Dracut school system.
Joan was co-owner along with her husband of Steve’s Garage in Pelham.
Among her many interests, she enjoyed knitting, sewing and cooking. She loved her cats and her dog Jody, but above all else, being all about family, she cherished the quality time she was able to spend with Steve, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Steve, Joan is survived by three daughters Maureen G. Provencal and her husband Thomas of Pelham, NH, Linda T. Philbrook and her husband Thomas of Bow, NH and Louanne J. Hall and her husband John of Derry, NH; a son William S. Straughan of Pelham, NH; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother Donald Morin of Pelham, NH; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also sister of the late Honey Martin.
Friends may call for a Memorial Visitation at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME 11 NASHUA RD. in PELHAM from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass to be celebrated Friday morning at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in PELHAM at 10 o'clock. Burial in the Gibson Cemetery.
