Helen E. Munson

Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt

Helen E. (Doran) Munson, 86, of Pelham, died Thursday, July 27th at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Warren Munson.
Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, November 18, 1930, a daughter of the late Thomas and the late Helen (Doherty) Doran, she attended Pelham schools and was a graduate of Nashua High School. Eager to further her education she then went on to attend the Nashua Secretarial School.
Before retiring, Helen was employed as a secretary with the former Wannalancit Company for many years.
She was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick Church in Pelham.
Among her many interests, Helen enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, bowling, crossword and word search puzzles, the theater and dancing. She was a member of the “Come Alive After Five” dance group. She also loved frequenting Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. However, her greatest joy was the quality time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren.
Helen is survived by a daughter Maureen P. Hennessy and her husband Mark of Camp Hill, PA; a son Matthew K. Munson and his wife Doreen of Hudson, NH; six grandchildren Michael K. Munson and his wife Veronica of Allenstown, NH, Alexander J. Munson and his wife Malea of Nashua, NH, David M. and Christopher P. Munson both of Hudson, NH, Christopher Hennessy and his wife Melissa of Long Island, NY and Gregory Hennessy of Camp Hill, PA; three great-grandchildren Sophia, Nora and Noah Munson; two sisters Joan Towle of Chester, NH and Diane Briand of Hudson, NH; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also sister of the late Thomas Doran.

We are so sorry to hear of Helen's passing. Every time we see a butterfly we will think of her. Helen was always so cheerful and full of life.

My dearest friend, 2nd Mom and inspirational woman... You've always been there for me through thick or thin and have shown love and respect that I cannot ever repay in two lifetimes. I'll miss our lunches, dinners, and our infamous "girls nite out" with my family for Mothers Days and birthdays. You've always been a shining light and a beautiful soul and have made me strive to be a better person just by knowing you. I miss you already but I know you're always out there for me ...and we all know you're out there as the butterfly you knew you would come back as. You'll never be forgotten, dear friend and I know Fred and I will never forget you and the smiles you created.

I worked at Park Place Lanes and Helen was one of the nicest people I have ever met! She loved her bowling and was always in the best of spirits when she walked in the door! She was also always so generous with her baking expertise and every Friday she treated everyone with her baked goodies! I even have some of her cookie recipes that she was generous enough to share with me! Also at one point found out that she was a friend of my mothers at "The dances on Sunday night". Helen has stopped going but my mother remembered her fondly! I have missed her these past few years that she stopped bowling, but will always remember her with a smile on my face!

While attending a ballroom dance last night, I was saddened to hear of Helen's passing. I first met Helen when we sat together at the Hillview Country Club Thursday dance and we had many fun and interesting conversations. I always enjoyed her company. She was a truly lovely lady and will be missed. Please accept my sympathy on your loss. My hope is that your many happy years and wonderful memories with this special lady will comfort you at this sad time.
