My wife Lois & I have just learned of the passing of Al, it is with great sadness that I'm writing this. Sending our condolences at this late date I hope all the family gets a chance to read this. I can only think of Al as being part of the great forest that existed before us, the sturdiest of the trees now falling victim to time. Al was one of those sturdy trees, with broad shoulders to bare the weight of all that came his way. Calling all the Hammar's my friends and Rick Hammar my best friend are the memories I have of you all growing up. I knew all has Ricks dad and like most dads you never got to know them well. But having worked for Al for a few days in the sign shop in Pelham while in high school I got to see how truly warm and accepting Al was. Al was alway willing to get into a discussion with me, told me his stories about fishing and life and as a 17 year old I never felt he was talking down to me but as an equal eager for me to learn from him. Now time goes on, the saplings grow and they too will become grand. Al, you were one of those grand majestic trees that stood tall and proud in the forest. May we never forget you and never forget to see the trees in spite of the forest! Love you all in these and all times.  Love Rod & Lois Clermont

On the road from Florida to New Hampshire with a sadness like no other to attend the services for my oldest brother Rick who passed on Tuesday eve. I was just looking up my dad's obit and came across your message. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

To the Hammar family,  I recall all of you, but especially your dad, so fondly.  He was a very special man and I have thought of him and all of you, Rick, Sue and everyone often recalling the years I worked for you in the art studio.  I learned to frame and to sell from your dad.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  Jacqui (Lantagne) Durrett

Dear Hammar Family,
One of my earliest memories is of visiting the Hammar family. That was over seventy years ago. I would always remind Al of one of his first accounts (signs for Perrault's farm stand  From now on when we see a spectacular sunset, we'll know it was al's turn. Please accept our deepest condolences on your loss.

Al, his family and my family have memories of the many good times we've had together which I will always remember. He was a good friend and of course my first cousin.
