Cheryl Louise Malburne

Cheryl Louise Malburne, 68, of Pelham, NH was called home to be in God’s loving arms on June 29, 2017. She died peacefully at home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was lovingly cared for by her daughter Sherra and husband Christopher along with her grandson Cody, with whom she resided.
Cheryl, a true red-headed spitfire, was born August 20, 1948 in Lowell, Mass. to parents Raymond L. and Grace L. Malburne. Born and raised in Pelham, she attended Pelham schools and graduated from Alvirne High School in Hudson, NH in 1966. She continued her education at Gibson Finishing School in Boston, and then Hesser College in Nashua.
Cheryl retired after 28 years as a Coordinator of Transfer Admissions at UMASS Lowell. Cheryl loved her job and colleagues, especially her dear friend and mentor, Jerry Durkin, whom she considered family.
Cheryl had a passion for cooking, shopping, cook-outs, camping, vacationing, singing into the echo-mic, BINGO, games, and most of all, spending time with her family.
As a child, Cheryl enjoyed her time at her aunt Rhoda Garland’s farm and her grandfather Jesse Richardson’s horse barn, as well as spending her summers camping at Ossippee Lake with her family.
Cheryl was a proud Gold Star member of the BOBS, an elite group of classy women, whom she spent 28 years with terrorizing the village of Plum Island. Diane, Beth, Sandy, Nancy, and Janice: rest assured, your secrets are safe.
Cheryl is survived by her two daughters Sherra Ludwig and husband Christopher, of Pelham; Hope Christie and boyfriend David Aubin, Jr., of Pelham; son Chad Sweeney of Weymouth, MA; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Diane Malburne and her companion Bruce Mason of Nottingham, NH; aunt Charlotte Bedard of Los Angeles, CA; uncle Bob Malburne and his wife Sandy of Pelham; niece Jessica Hartigan and grandnephew of Northwood, NH; as well as many cousins.
Cheryl is predeceased by her parents and her son Brian L. Christie, who passed away in 2015.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service to be held on Wednesday, July 5th at the FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH in Pelham at 11 o’clock.
