Claire H. McCarthy

Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend;

Claire H. (Ouellette) McCarthy, 85, of Pelham, passed away Wednesday evening at Greenbriar Terrace in Nashua, New Hampshire after a brief illness.

She was the loving wife of the late Edward A. McCarthy.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, June 5, 1932, a daughter of the late George and the late Lida (Charbonneau) Ouellette, she attended St. Joseph’s Grammar school and was a graduate of St. Joseph High Schools for Girls in 1947.

For over 32 years, Claire worked at Rosenbloom’s Party Store in Lowell where she was the retail store manager until her retirement.

A parishioner of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Lowell, she was also a past president of the Ladies Sodality.

Upon moving to Pelham many years ago, Claire became active with St. Patrick Church Women’s Guild and the Pelham VFW Auxiliary.

Claire is survived by two sons Patrick E. McCarthy and his wife Karen of Pelham and Michael R. McCarthy and his wife Barbara of Haverhill; her grandchildren: Edward (Ted) McCarthy (and Cindy McCarthy) of Amherst, MA; Kelly McCarthy Bevere (and Peter Bevere) of Middlebury, Vt.; James McCarthy of Seattle, WA; Jack McCarthy of Somerville, MA and Matthew McCarthy of Haverhill, MA.  She loved every minute she spent with her great-grandchildren: Katie and Tom McCarthy, Sarah and Owen Bevere and Alyssa Perkins; a sister Florence Ahmed of Salem, MA and a brother Richard Ouellette and his wife Doris of Gilmanton Iron Works, NH; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friend Ann Marie Cannon.

After her husband’s death, Claire was also the significant other of the late Owen Feeley and the late Levi Daigle.

Friends may call at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME 11 NASHUA RD. in PELHAM for a Memorial Visitation from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Funeral Mass to be celebrated Tuesday morning at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in PELHAM at 10:30 A.M. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH).
