Cynthia H. “Missy” Atkinson

Cynthia H. “Missy” Atkinson, 56, of Pelham, died Friday, November 17th at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved longtime companion and fiancée of Alan N. Desmettre who survives her.
Born in Montreal, Canada, January 7, 1961, the daughter of Barbara H. “Bobby” (Robb) (Atkinson) Holleman of Vero Beach, Florida and the late John Philip Atkinson, she attended Rosemére, Quebec schools and was a graduate of Weston High School in Weston, Massachusetts with the Class of 1979.
Before illness forced her retirement, Missy was employed as a Dental Hygienist with Dr. Stephen Halem in North Andover and previously with Dr. Paul Masterson in Salem for over 20 years.
Among her many interests, Missy was an avid motorcyclist and loved her Harley Davidson. She was a member of the Women in the Wind motorcycle club. She enjoyed music and was a lover of animals of all kinds. She was also a volunteer at the MSPCA. She was known to be a free spirit with an infectious smile who went out of her way to make everyone she knew happy. She never complained about anything including her own debilitating illness.
In addition to her fiancé and mother, Missy is survived by her brother Christopher S. Atkinson and his wife Barbara of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
