James E. Greenwood
Loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend;
James E. Greenwood, 85, a longtime resident and member of a well-known Pelham family, died unexpectedly at his home Friday afternoon.
He was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy Ann (Bosch) Greenwood who died in 2016. During her last year’s, Jim cared for his wife by providing Home Dialysis for more than 12 years after she suffered from renal failure in 2000.
Born in Brooklyn NY, June 21, 1933, a son of the late Edward Greenwood & Yvonne (St. Onge) Greenwood, he to Pelham at an early age and was educated in the Pelham, NH school system.
A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Jim served his country as a proud member of the U.S Army and met his wife of 61 years, Dorothy while stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas.
His career working for defense contractors started in early 60’s at Raytheon, and then Sanders Associates where he retired.
A communicant of St. Patrick Church in Pelham, where he served as a lector in the late 60’s and 70’s, Jim was also a member of the Budget Committee in Pelham in the 1960’s.
After retiring, Jim enjoyed traveling in his Motorhome wintering first in Texas and then ending up spending the last 17 years wintering at the Naples RV Resort in Naples Florida. He enjoyed spending time with his Naples RV resort family of friends, playing shuffle board, Hot dog lunches, Movie Night, Breakfasts at Perkins, and much more.
In addition, he enjoyed camping, cooking, photography, computers and electronics and built the first Color TV in his basement in the 60’s.
Jim is survived by his children Robert H. Greenwood, James B. Greenwood and Karen A Greenwood all of Pelham; 2 grandchildren Zachary S Murphy and Julia A Murphy; 2 Great Grand Children Takara and Lexanni; Nephew’s David Greenwood and Dan Greenwood and niece Jackie Grzesik
He was the father of the late Johnny Greenwood, grandfather of the late Kristen D Burrows and brother of the late William Greenwood.
At his request there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be held for the family at a later date followed by private burial. E-condolences at www.pelhamfuneralhome.com.
