Nancy M. (Whalen) “The Prettiest” Jennings, 68, of Litchfield, NH, formerly of Pelham, NH, died peacefully on Saturday, October 7th at home during her own planned life celebration party surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was the beloved wife of William D. “Dave” Jennings, Jr. with whom she celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on January 4th of this year.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, October 15, 1948, a daughter of the late James and the late Madeline (Hamelin) Whalen, she attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School with the Class of 1966.
Before retiring, Nancy was employed as an Emergency Room Intake Coordinator at Saints Medical Center (now known as Lowell General Hospital – Saints Campus) in Lowell for over 14 years.
Active with her church, she was a member of Open Doors Christian Fellowship Church in Litchfield. She was also a former longtime member of the Pelham Baptist Church.
Among her many interests, Nancy enjoyed reading, knitting and loved her frequent trips with her husband to Salisbury Beach for Tripoli’s renowned pizza and onion rings. Above all else though, being all about family, she cherished the quality time she was able to spend with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Dave, Nancy is survived by two daughters Tara L. Whiting and her husband Jeffrey and Mary Gail Siperek and her husband Scott all of Litchfield, NH; a son William D. Jennings III and his wife Renee of Haverhill, MA; seven grandchildren Tayla, McKenna, Parker, Julia, Kylee, Monique and Danielle; five sisters Madeline Keyes of Chelmsford, MA, Sr. James Madeline (Dolores) of Cambridge, MA, AnnMarie Cahill and her husband Walter of Lowell, MA, Kathleen Therrien-Balch of Tyngsboro, MA and Gail Coleman and her husband Dennis of Salem, NH; her very special friend whom she considered a sister, Cheryl O’Brien of Cambridge, MA; two brothers Robert Whalen and his wife Frannie and Joseph Whalen all of Lowell, MA; her sister-in-law Judith Tessier and her husband George of Derry, NH; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend Mary Jo Buczynski of Lowell, MA.
She was also sister of the late Theresa Morin, Dennis Whalen, Elizabeth Whalen, James Whalen and John Whalen.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Her Memorial Service will take place on Saturday morning, Oct. 21st at Open Doors Christian Fellowship Church in Litchfield at 11 o’clock. Committal Services will be held privately.
