Richard Black Obituary

Richard J. Black

Loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend

Richard J. Black, 76, of Pelham, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 30th at his home. He was the beloved husband of Ann M. (Tessier) Black who survives him and with whom he would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on November 7th of this year.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, November 26, 1941, the only child of the late Richard Randolph and the late Ellen L. (Colyer) Black, he attended Somerville schools and was a graduate of Somerville High School. Eager to further his education, he then went on to graduate from Worcester Polytechnic Institute earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Before retiring, Richard was employed as a CNC Electrical Technician with various area defense companies for over 30 years.
Among his many interests, he was a member of the Pelham Senior Citizens Center partaking in the many activities they offered, particularly bingo and crafts. Above all else though, being all about family, he retired early and took an avid role in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives and interests. He loved spending time and tinkering on his many hobbies often sharing them with his wife and family.
In addition to his wife Ann, Richard is survived by two daughters Mary F. Thompson of Kingston, NH and Christine M. Gravel and her husband Mark of Pelham, NH; a son Richard A. Black and his wife Sarah of Barrington, NH; six grandchildren Alexa-marie Ann, Catherine Ann, Madison Paige, Gabriel Foster, Joshua Robert and Samantha Maria; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
