Robert J. Briere

Loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother

Robert J. Briere, of Hudson, NH, formerly of Pelham, died Saturday, May 20th at Fairview Nursing Home in Hudson. He was the beloved husband of the late Theresa M. (Greenwood) Briere who died in 1980 and the late Jose A. (Dube) Briere who died in 1990.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, January 9, 1929, a son of the late William J. and the late Alma (Chartier) Briere, he attended Pelham schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School in the Class of 1948.  Eager to further his education, he then went on to attend Lowell Community College.
A veteran during the Korean Conflict, Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Before retiring, Bob was employed as a warehouse attendant with Anheuser-Busch in Merrimack for many years. Previously, he worked as a rubber coverer for Improved Machinery in Nashua, NH.
He was a longtime parishioner of St, Patrick Church in Pelham. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 48 in Hudson, NH.
Among his many interests, Bob enjoyed woodworking and long rides in the country. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan. First and foremost, his family was his absolute pride and joy.
Bob is survived by a daughter Phyllis B. Powers of Hudson, NH; a son Michael R. Briere and his wife Venessa of Alexandria, NH; two grandchildren Jamie N. Briere of Exeter, NH and William R. Briere of Pelham, NH; one great-grandson Robert M. Briere of Exeter, NH; four sisters Rita Albert and her husband Leo of Tyngsboro, MA, Loraine Marchand and her husband Leon of Tyngsboro, MA, Annette Monty of Dracut, MA and Dorothy Gentile of Chelmsford, MA; a sister-in-law Germaine Rondeau and her husband Gerard of Lowell, MA; and many nieces and nephews.  
He was also brother of the late Doris Dumais, Pauline Briere and Richard Briere, father-in-law of the late Patrick L. “Pat” Powers and brother-in law of the late Morris Dumais, Roland Monty and John Gentile.
Friends may call at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 11 Nashua Rd, Pelham from 4 to 6 on Tuesday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Wednesday morning at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in Pelham at 10 o’clock. Burial to follow in Gibson Cemetery. E-condolences/directions at www.pelhamfuneralhome.com.
