Andre R. Montminy, DMD

Loving husband, father, grandfather, cousin and friend

    Andre Montminy, DMD, 79, of Pelham, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 12th following a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving wife and sons. He was the beloved husband of Denise (Ouellette) Montminy with whom he celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary August 5th of last year.
    Born in Berlin, New Hampshire, January 3, 1943, the only child of the late Armand and the late Jeanette (Caron) Montminy, he attended St. Patrick Grammar School in Berlin and was a graduate of Assumption Prep School in Worcester, MA with the Class of 1960. Eager to further his education he then went on to graduate from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA in 1964 and then from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston in 1968.
    Upon graduating from Tufts, Andre proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict in the U.S. Air Force with the rank of captain and was stationed at Osan Air Force Base in South Korea for 13 months. It was there that he developed a life-long enthusiasm for martial arts and earned his first black belt in Hapkido.
    After returning to the United States, he was stationed at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, MA for one year at which time he began his career in general dentistry at his home/office in Pelham New Hampshire. Dr. Montminy truly loved his patients and his passion for dentistry. Prior to retiring in 2017, he enjoyed practicing dentistry in Pelham for nearly 47 years.
    Andre continued martial arts throughout the years, first at his own school at the old Nashua YMCA where he met his wife Denise in 1981. In 1983, he began Tae Kwon Do at Lee’s Martial Arts in Manchester, NH where he had been a student and instructor up until his illness in April 2021. In addition, he was an avid golfer and traveler and enjoyed countless vacations with Denise to their “happy place” Bermuda as well as Myrtle Beach, Florida, Arizona, Las Vegas, Lake George, NY and Canada and numerous other destinations.
    He also spent many weekends over the years at his Ludlow, VT ski chalet skiing with his boys as youngsters and in his later years took up snowshoeing and enjoyed spending quiet weekends with his wife just walking and admiring the quiet VT scenery.
    Dr, Montminy is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of nearly 39 years Denise (Ouellette) Montminy of Pelham, NH; two sons Marc Montminy of Standish, ME and Christian Montminy and his wife Nicole of Litchfield, NH; he was “Pepere” to four loving grandchildren Honorae and Addalyn Montminy of Falmouth, ME and Owen and Charlie Montminy of Litchfield, NH;
    He is also survived by his close cousins Pierre Lessard and Barbara Roy of Berlin, NH and Louise Lessard of Staten Island, NY as well as several other cousins, relatives and friends.
