Anthony V. Marino


Loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend;

Anthony V. “Tony” Marino, 98, of Pelham, New Hampshire but formerly of Reading, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was the beloved husband of Loretta C. (Sciarappa) Marino, who survives him and with whom he celebrated their 73rd Wedding Anniversary on October 5, 2020.

Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, September 1, 1922, the son of the late Stefano and the late Marie (Marchese) Marino, he attended Chelsea schools and was a graduate of Chelsea High School.

A veteran of World War II, Tony proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy.

Before retirement, Tony was an electronics technician for many years with AVCO Corporation in Wilmington.

A longtime communicant of St. Patrick Church in Pelham, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 1031, in Reading, MA.

Tony was a member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors’ Association, he and Loretta often attending their annual conventions. For many years, Tony and Loretta gathered twice a year with the men with whom Tony served during the war and their families. 

Besides his wife, Tony is survived by a son Edward A. Marino and his wife Patricia S. (Grosvenor) of Townsend, MA; a daughter Linda (Marino) Johansen and her husband Eric of Pelham, NH; four grandchildren Daniel E. Marino and his wife Katie Ellen Warren, Jessica R. (Marino) Terry and her husband Kendrick, Robin L. (Johansen) Drouin and her husband Robert, and Shawn E. Johansen and his wife Amy (Gilfoyle); ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
