Carl F. Gilliland
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle;
Carl F. Gilliland, 87, a former longtime resident of Pelham and Derry, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 28, 2023, at Fairview Senior Living in Hudson, NH.
Carl was the loving husband of the late Marilyn M. (Carver) Gilliland, who predeceased him.
Born in Butler, Pennsylvania, on June 18, 1935, the son of the late Carl N. and the late Mildred A. (Cunningham) Gilliland, he attended Butler Schools and was a graduate of Butler High School.
A veteran of the Korean War, Carl proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army.
He was also a founding member of the Church of the Nazarene in Lowell Massachusetts.
Prior to his retirement, Carl worked as a Quality Control Engineer for Raytheon Corporation in North Andover, Massachusetts, for over 35 years. Later, he worked at FLIR Systems in North Billerica MA in the same capacity.
An avid Boston sports fan, especially the Red Sox and Celtics, Carl also enjoyed gardening and was well known for his impressive vegetable and flower gardens through the years.
Carl is survived by four children: Carlene F. Drew and her husband James of Charlotte, North Carolina, Carol F. Callihan of NH, Vera M. McLafferty of Hamilton, MA, and Steve N. Gilliland and his wife Sherri of Derry, NH; eleven grandchildren Joshua and Kat Drew, Jacob and Shiny Drew, Aaron Drew, Jessica and Scott Young, Vanessa and Michael Gravell, Joe McLafferty, Eva McLafferty, Ben McLafferty, Tess McLafferty, Matthew Gilliland and Allison Gilliland; four great-grandchildren Dame, Carter, Maverick and Everly; a brother Donald Gilliland and his wife Sandy of Butler, PA; many nieces and nephews; and his former wife Eva M. Gilliland of NH.
He was the father of the late Carl F. Gilliland and the brother of the late Elsie Kooser, Kenneth Gilliland, Louis Gilliland, and Gilmore Gilliland.
