Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle;
Daniel S. Atwood, Jr., 92, of Pelham, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Grace House in Windham.
He was the loving husband for nearly 61 years of Georgia (Gazes) Atwood, who predeceased him in 2019.
Born in Lowell, MA, August 9, 1933, the son of the late Daniel S., Sr. and the late Kathleen (Hunt) Atwood, he attended Pelham Schools and graduated from Nashua High School in the class of 1952.
Dan served in the United States Army as a train engineer in Alaska during the Korean War. He earned a National Defense Service Medal for his foreign service and was transferred to the Army Reserve in 1955.
Daniel was the Manager of the New Hampshire State Liquor Store in Pelham from the store opening until he retired in 1995. He also worked at the Harris Pelham Inn for over 40 years.
An active resident of his community, he was a retired Captain of the Pelham Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Pelham Senior Center, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and visiting with the great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed visiting Amish Country in Pennsylvania.
Daniel is survived by two daughters, Deborah Grace and her husband Richard of Wilmot, NH, and Pamela Ciaramitaro and her husband Anthony of Hampton, NH; four grandchildren, Heather Mather and her husband Olin of Wilmot, NH, Ashley Foutz and her husband Peter of Williston, VT, Jason Ciaramitaro and his wife Kaitlin of Stratham, NH, and Brandon Ciaramitaro and his fiancée Taylor Eddy of Marina, CA; five great grandchildren, Hallie and Natalie Foutz, Dawson Mather, and Ava and Emilia Ciaramitaro; and many nieces and nephews.
