Gerard Omer “Gerry” Martin, age 91, a longtime resident of Pelham, passed away peacefully at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH, on Saturday, August 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Rose Marie A. (Laurin) Martin, with whom he shared over 69 years of marriage.
Born in Lowell on June 13, 1933, he was a son of the late Wilfrid and Germaine (Nault) Martin. He received his early education at St. Louis de France elementary school and then graduated Lowell Trade school. He also served as a reservist in the U.S. Navy.
Gerry was the proprietor of Martin Brothers Custom Builders of Dracut. Over the years, he along with his brothers, sons and nephews built several homes, worked on many carpentry projects and performed numerous construction tasks.
He was an avid outdoorsmen, who enjoyed snowmobiling and camping and he loved working; and in his younger years he enjoyed the golden gloves, roller derby, roller skating, football and bowling. Gerry was a very generous man with his time, talents and knowledge and was always there for his family. He was also a longtime communicant of St. Patrick Church in Pelham.
Surviving him in addition to his loving wife Rose Marie are three sons and three daughters-in-law, Gerard and Nancy Martin, Marc and Kristine Martin and Paul and Sheila Martin; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Lise Martin-Klein and her husband Shane and Michelle Rosado and her husband Victor; nine grandchildren, Melissa Martin, Jennifer Harman and her husband Caleb, Justin Martin and his wife Kalisha, Geoffrey Ulmer and his wife Justine, Angela DeMange and her husband Christopher, Jacob Martin, Zachary Martin, Alysha Kamel and her husband Rafik and Victoria Rosado and her fiancé Michael Lopez; thirteen great grandchildren; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Marcel “Pete” and Janet Martin, Antonio “Tony” Martin and Normand Martin; a sister Rita Peters; two sisters-in-law, Dolores Martin and Carol Martin; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his siblings Wilfrid Martin, Emile Martin, Therese Greaves and Fleurette Ouellette.
Relatives and friends will be received at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 11 Nashua Rd., Pelham, NH on Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday morning Aug. 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 12 Main St., Pelham, NH. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his memory to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Rd., Merrimack, NH 03054.
