Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister;
Helen "Carol" (Ventre) Murphy, 81, of Pelham, NH, but formerly a longtime resident of Somerville, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the loving wife for 54 years of the late Dennis F. Murphy.
Born in Cambridge, MA, October 5, 1943, the daughter of the late Harry "Micky" Ventre, Jr. and the late Helen (Davis) Ventre, she attended Cambridge grammar schools and Cambridge Latin School.
Prior to her retirement, Helen was a self-employed licensed day care provider for many years. In addition, she was a Special Education Assistant with Somerville Public Schools and she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher.
Among her many interests, Carol loved watching her daughter's dance recitals and playing various games. She enjoyed playing Kismet and cards with her grandchildren, Bingo with her beloved sister, Rosie, and going to the Casino with her beautiful sister, Sandra. She also bowled in a bowling league for many years. Most importantly, she loved her family so much and just enjoyed the time she spent with them. Carol will be fondly remembered for her unconditional love and devotion to her family and friends. She had a heart of gold and touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity.
As a Sunday school teacher and Special Education Assistant, she dedicated herself to nurturing and uplifting others, always giving back to her community with grace and compassion. Her legacy of love, service, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Carol is survived by five children, CarolJean Cassidy and her husband Scott of Somerville, MA, Kim DiPrizio and her husband Dave of Pelham, NH, Cindy Tyler and her husband Tim of Billerica, MA, Laura Ahern and her husband Chris of Wilmington, MA, and Dennis "DJ" Murphy and his wife Jennifer of Tewksbury, MA; eleven grandchildren, Brittany Cassidy-Leach and her husband Dennis, Bobby Cassidy, Jason Cassidy, Lauren DiPrizio and her partner Travis Whitehouse, Matthew DiPrizio, Samantha Tyler, Jake Tyler, Jessica Ahern, Madison Ahern, Patrick Murphy, and Katelyn Murphy; a great grandchild, Weston Charles Whitehouse; two sisters, Sandra Maccini of Stoneham, MA, and Laura Shea and her husband Richard of Gloucester, MA; many nieces and nephews; and her cherished grand dogs, Lily, JJ, and Coco.
She was the sister of the late Harry Ventre, Edith “DeeDee” Burke, Rosemary Ryan, Pamela Knight, and Richard Ventre.
Friends may call on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME 11 NASHUA RD. in PELHAM from 4 to 7 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Tuesday morning September 30, 2025, at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in PELHAM at 11 o'clock. Burial to follow at the Gibson Cemetery.
