Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother

Jose M. Sousa, 75, of Pelham, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 15, 2025, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, NH surrounded by his loving family.

He was the loving husband for over 54 years to Maria C. Sousa, who survives him.

Born in the Azores, Portugal on February 10, 1950, the son of the late Jose L. Sousa and the late Guilhermina A. (Goncalves) Sousa, he received his education while growing up in Portugal.

Prior to his retirement, Jose was a machine operator with Advanced Polymers in Salem, NH for many years.

Among his several interests, Jose was a poet, who posted daily poems on Facebook for the enjoyment of family and friends. His love of poetry was deep rooted and he enjoyed sharing it with others. Known for his great sense of humor, Jose was most happy when he was with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter Diana P. Mendes and her husband Rogerio of Lowell; his son Jose Sousa and his wife Manuela of Pelham, NH; six grandchildren Barbara Kulis, Michelle Crowe & husband John Crowe, Rachel Martins & husband Jonathan Martins, Nichole Raposo & husband Helder Raposo, Megan Sousa and Melanie Sousa; four great grandchildren Jane, Milli, Emilia and Eleanor; a sister Maria L. Cunha of Portugal; a brother Isolino Sousa of Portugal; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday June 23, 2025, at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME 11 NASHUA   RD. in PELHAM from 4 to 7 P.M. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday June 24, 2025, at ST. ANTHONY CHURCH, 893 Central St. in LOWELL at 10:00 o'clock followed by his burial in the Gibson Cemetery in Pelham, NH. E-condolences/directions at http://www.pelhamfuneralhome.com.
