Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister
Josephine L. (Hirsch) Fletcher passed away peacefully at Cedar View Rehab & Nursing on Monday November 4, 2024.
Born in Pelham, New Hampshire, she liked to say she was one of the few who could say they were a true native of Pelham, having been born on the family farm on Mammoth Road to the late Malvena (Ross) and Carl Hirsch.
She attended Gumpus One Room School House, Sherburne School, and graduated from Nashua High School in 1944.
She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Robert “Bob” B. Fletcher, on July 31, 2017, and her daughter Janice E. Chasse on July 18, 2006. She was also proud to say she was a direct descendent of the original settler of Pelham, Deacon John Butler, and Hannah Duston, colonial heroine.
Josephine and Bob were long time sales representatives of Ward Cedar Log Homes of Maine and loved to travel the world. Josephine liked to say she had been to every continent but Antarctica, and she wasn’t going there.
She is survived by her two daughters, Shelley and husband Emil Schlegel and Kimberly Fletcher, with whom she lived; her granddaughter, Karen and husband Rick Zelonis; great grandchildren Rebecca Fletcher and Cameron Genoter; a brother, Robert and sister-in-law Florine Hirsch; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral Services were private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. E-condolences at www.pelhamfuneralhome.com.
