Josephine (Giuseppina Inferrera) Liardo

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Josephine Liardo, 94, formerly of Lowell, MA passed away on Wednesday July 27, 2022, due to complications of surgery at Lowell General Hospital.
Born in Messina, Sicily, Italy October 19, 1927; the 2nd of five children to the late Nicolo and Maria Inferrera.
In 1956, at the age of 29, ten years after the death of her first husband and loss of her first child, she married Anthony Liardo also of Sicily, Italy, and immigrated to Boston MA, finally settling in Roslindale, MA.
Josephine went on to have two children with Anthony; Martha Mary (Liardo) Landry of Pelham, NH and Richard Anthony Liardo, also of Pelham NH, before she lost her 2nd husband to complications of pneumonia. As a single mother, Josephine raised both Martha and Richard with the traditions she brought over from Italy, to include the value of sharing a meal with family, playing scopa, and even parenting with the fury of a wooden spoon.
Josephine was both talented and versatile, making a living both as a seamstress and housekeeper. As her children went on to have families of their own, she also provided childcare to her grandchildren.
Josephine had an infectious laugh with a sassy demeanor. She loved spending her time cooking, playing bingo, going to Foxwoods and knitting. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Josephine is survived by her sister Giovanna Inferrera of Milan, brother Giovanni (John) Inferrera of North Weymouth, MA, her five grandchildren Adam, Alicia, Angela Landry, Samantha and Jarrod Liardo, in addition to several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

Friends may call on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME 11 NASHUA RD. in Pelham NH from 3-7 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated Thursday morning at ST. PATRICK CHURCH in Pelham at 10am (Please meet at church).
