Marcia R. Ames
Beloved Mother, grandmother, aunt, and adopted mother and grandmother;
Marcia R. Ames, 77, of Derry, NH died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on the afternoon of Saturday October 15th, 2022.
Born in Melrose, Massachusetts, January 2, 1945, the daughter of the late Forrest and Mildred (Wasson) Ames, she attended Saugus Schools and graduated from Saugus High school. She continued her education at Bunker Hill Community College receiving her Associates Degree in accounting.
Prior to her retirement, Marcia was a Health Care provider. Previously, she was an auditor with the Internal Revenue Service for many years.
Marcia enjoyed spending her time with her friends and family, playing cribbage, crocheting, gardening, baking, decorating cakes, country music, and volunteering with the children at South Range Elementary School in Derry. She spent many enjoyable summers at Country Shores in Kingston NH and was the matriarch of the annual family Gingerbread Baking Day. Known affectionately by the students of South Range and her three grandsons as Nana, Marcia had an amazing gift working with kids and anyone in need, and devoted her life to her grandsons. Marcia’s grandson Brendan in particular lived with her for several years taking care of her and all of her needs, and they lovingly referred to one another as best friends. Nana was a smart, quick-witted, beautiful, adventurous, kind, and loving soul who would never turn her back on anyone in a time of need, had an incredibly strong faith in God, and lived her life to the fullest. Nana will be incredibly missed by all, but the lessons she taught and the love she shared will be felt for years to come.
