Michael Atwood Obituary

Michael D. Atwood

Beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to so many.

Michael D. Atwood, 44, of Nahant but formerly a longtime resident of Pelham, NH, passed away Thursday June 25, 2020 after a long battle with lung cancer.

He was the loving husband of Natalia Aristova, who survives him.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, February 14, 1976, the son of Vernon C. Atwood and Maureen E. (Finnigan) Atwood, he attended Pelham schools and was a graduate of Pelham High School Class of 1995 where he was a member of the First Football Team. Mike went on to attend Bunker Hill Community College.

He was the Director of Marketing Consulting Services at IRIS-Worldwide, an international marketing company based in Burlington, Massachusetts.

Michael loved his job and was passionate about his projects. He continued to work despite treatments almost until the last day.

Michael had a gentle and generous soul, ready to help people and willing to listen to their problems. He always tried to find something positive in any situation. Even while doing chemo and having side effects from it, he tried to lift up the mood in the room. He joked with nurses and doctors and was open to trying anything new.

Mike loved being near the ocean and watching sunrises and sunsets. In addition, he also loved fishing, talking to fishermen, and eating clam chowder or lobster roll on the beach.

He was a world traveler. Up until the last minute he was still dreaming of traveling to new places. Italy was his favorite country, where he and Natalia were married in 2016.

Mike grew up with his younger brother Gregory who he loved deeply. He had a strong bond with his brother and was very proud of him. They spent time together fishing, skiing, and playing football. They remained very close throughout his life.

Mike’s greatest joy was when he was with his family. He loved his kids and wife more than anything in the world. Little Sophia was his miracle and sunshine who he adored dearly. He always made time to sit down and listen to the kids while giving them life lasting advice.

Besides his wife Natalia, his parents Vernon Atwood, his mother Maureen E. (Finnigan) Atwood and her fiancé David Auger, Mike is survived by three children Sophia E. Atwood, Alisa N. Frawley both of Nahant and Artem S. Aristov of Rochester, NY; a brother Gregory P. Atwood and his wife Amanda of Milford, NH with their kids Braydon and Lilly.
