Nancy I. (Lovering) Johnston

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister-in-law;

Nancy I. (Lovering) Johnston, 89, of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA.

She was the beloved wife for 68 years of Carl W. Johnston, who survives her.

Born in Boston, MA, December 5, 1936, the daughter of the late Howard and the late Irene (King) Lovering, she graduated from Lexington Christian Academy in the class of 1954.

Before retirement, Nancy worked as a manager for many years at Stuarts Department Store in Tewksbury, MA.

In her spare time, she enjoyed being mostly at home cooking, reading, and putting together puzzles. She and Carl together enjoyed their occasional day trip experiencing the local scenery, shops, and restaurants. Most of all and more than words can say, she cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren ,  great grandchildren and friends. 

Besides her husband, Carl, Nancy is survived by a daughter, Melinda L. Callanan of North Waterboro, ME; three sons, William D. Johnston and his wife Carolyn of Hampstead, NH, David C Johnston of Tewksbury, MA and Robert M. Johnston and his wife Lisa of Salem, NH; seven grandchildren, Holly Catalfamo and her husband Michael of Grantham, NH, Gregg Callanan of Old Orchard Beach, ME, William C. Johnston and his wife Rebekah of Manchester, CT, Erin Matrumalo and her husband Vincent of Hooksett, NH, Samantha Johnston and her partner Michael Massahos of Londonderry, NH, Michael Johnston and his wife Danielle of Bow, NH, and Daniel Johnston of Salem, NH; three great grandchildren, Kaylee, Tyler, and Levi; a sister-in-law, Judy Lovering of FL; dear close and supportive friends, Natalie Robitaille and Doreen and Phillip LaFleur.

She was the grandmother of the late Kerri Johnston.

Friends may call for a Memorial Visitation on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME 11 NASHUA RD. in PELHAM FROM 10 AM to 12 PM.
