Richard Wilber “Dick” Koch

Beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and uncle.

Richard Wilber “Dick” Koch, 87, of Pelham, New Hampshire, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
 
He was a devoted husband of Cheryl E. (Swanson) Koch of Pelham, NH, who survives him.
 
Born in Arlington, Massachusetts, September 25, 1936, the son of the late August and the late Annie (Hoyles) Koch. He received his education through the Lexington, MA school system and was a graduate of Lexington High School in the class of 1955.
 
Dick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
 
Prior to his retirement, Dick worked as a Standards Engineer at the Polaroid Corporation for over 35 years where he met his beloved wife Cheryl (Swanson) Koch. In addition, he was a master woodworker. His creations range from Christmas ornaments and children’s toys to intricate intarsia, china cabinets, desks, beds, wardrobes, and many other beautiful items. Many of these were given to the First Congregational Church in Pelham, NH where he was a member and served as a trustee.
 
Besides his wife, Dick is survived by three daughters Kimberly B. Vensel and her late husband Richard “Rick” of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Melanie J. Surprenant and her husband Kenneth of Pelham, NH, Harmony D. Campbell and her husband Jason of Hudson, NH; a step-son Ian Robinson and his wife Kimberly of Garner, North Carolina. Also, nine grandchildren Andrew, Abigail, and Rebekah Vensel, Kendra and Kyle Surprenant, Alyia and Alija Robinson, and Gavin and Evelyn Campbell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
 
He was the brother of the late Pauline Woodworth, James and Albert Koch.
 
Friends may attend his Memorial Visitation on Friday morning July 26, 2024, at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME 11 NASHUA RD. in PELHAM, NH from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. His Memorial Funeral Service will follow at the FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH in PELHAM, NH, at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at the Gibson Cemetery in Pelham. Then a luncheon will be served at the First Congregational Church in Pelham. E-condolences/directions at www.pelhamfuneralhome.com.
