Richard P. Kozowyk
Beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle;
Richard P. Kozowyk, 79, of Pelham, NH, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday October 16, 2022 following a brief illness.
Born on February 20, 1943 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Peter and the late Jane (Baranowski) Kozowyk. He graduated from Boston Latin High School and later Newbury College.
A Vietnam-era U.S. Navy Veteran, Richard was extremely proud of his involvement in the VP-44 Patrol Squadron, often referencing the unit's Pelican insignia, after the group’s 'Golden Pelican' nickname.
Richard was also a proud member of the Boston Carmen’s Union Local 589, retiring as a Machinist Foreman with the MBTA after many years of distinguished service.
He could build or fix anything; amongst many other hobbies, Richard enjoyed repairing engines, working on his motorcycle, and riding his tractor around the yard. He also had a love for dogs, especially pitbulls, and was outspoken about breed-specific biases & legislation.
Above all else, though, Richard was a family man— devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He had a youthful charm throughout his life, and would often joke that he could “fix anything but a broken heart.” In death, he leaves his family heart broken.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Jane (LaFauci) Kozowyk, of Pelham, NH; sons Guy R. Kozowyk of Salem, NH, Joseph R. Kozowyk & his wife, Erinie, of Tyngsborough, MA, and Michael R. Kozowyk & his wife, Christine, of Windham, NH; grandchildren Zoey, Samantha & Jack; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also predeceased by his sister, the late Janet P. Kozowyk.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 11 NASHUA ROAD in PELHAM from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. followed by his Graveside Service at the Gibson Cemetery in Pelham, NH.
