Obituary

Robert “ Bosco” Vaillancourt, 87

Pelham- Robert “Bosco” Vaillancourt of Pelham NH passed away on August 22, 2023.

He was the beloved husband of Shirley (Marchand) Vaillancourt with whom he had celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 1st.

Born in Greenville, NH on June 28, 1936 to the late Adelard Vaillancourt and Camilla Thibault, he attended La Salette Seminary in Enfield NH in lieu of completing high school.

A veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard, Robert retired from the National Guard in 1962 with a total of nine years of active duty and reserve military service.

He then worked as a custodian for 22 years for the Pelham School District where he was known fondly as Mr. V, retiring in 1996.

In life, his great enjoyments included spending time with family, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, watching Red Sox and Patriots games, and traveling to Myrtle Beach SC and Pittsburgh NH. He took much pride in keeping up his lawn and property with his wife. Although he did not have children of his own, he helped raise many nieces and nephews, helping them with everything from riding a bike to getting through school. He was always laughing, smiling and ready to play any game; truly the fun uncle for his family.

In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by his siblings Alice (Vaillancourt) Belanger of Nashua NH and Lionel ‘Pete’ Vaillancourt of Warner NH. In-laws Lillian ‘Mickey’ (Marchand) and Thomas Bemish of Pelham NH. Nieces and nephews Rita (Bemish) and Mark McCabe, Edward Bemish, Thomas Bemish Jr, Joann (Dubois) LaPlant, Robert and Clarie Dubois, Muriel (Major) Dubois, and Cheryl (Dwyer) Dubois. Great nieces and nephews Danielle (Dubois) and Steven DeSantis, Allison Dubois and Matt Mayer, Abby Blais and Chris Young, Katie Blais, Jessica (LaPlant) and Steve Turgeon, Rebecca (LaPlant) and Marcus Lathrop, Michelle LaPlant, Sean and Sarah Dubois, Scott and Jen Dubois, Sue Dubois and Becca Hazen, Aimee (Dubois) and Michael Jacobs, Craig and Nadia Dubois, and Elise Dubois.

He was preceded in death by his parents Adelard and Camilla. Siblings Rene, Joseph, Romie, Jacqueline, and Edmond Vaillancourt. In-laws Rita (Marchand) and Robert Dubois. Nephews Raymond Dubois and Richard Dubois.

He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
