Roger Hardy Obituary

Roger A. Hardy

Roger Ashton Hardy, 80 of Pelham, NH, passed away on Saturday October 22, 2022 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was the beloved husband for over 58 years of Wilma J. (Coulter) Hardy who survives him.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts September 23, 1942, the son of the late Ashton Hardy and the late Grace (MacLeod) Hardy. He attended Milton schools and was a graduate of Milton High School Class of 1960. Roger went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Springfield College in 1964.

Roger was a Physical Education teacher in Dracut, Massachusetts for over 25 years.  After retiring from teaching, he went on to work for the United States Postal Service in Andover Massachusetts and Nashua NH.

Roger was an avid runner in his youth and could frequently be seen running the streets of Lowell, Dracut and Pelham with his friend John.  Once age sidelined him from running, he took up cycling and continued to be active throughout his life. He enjoyed playing, and later watching, all sports. He had a great love of music throughout his life.  His favorite artist was his grandson Ryan of the performing duo Martin and Kelly and he attended as many of their concerts as he could.

He was most happy in his home away from home, Green Bay, Nova Scotia spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, extended family and dear friends. He also enjoyed spending time in West Virginia with family there.

Besides his wife, Roger is survived by five children.  Sherry M. Lafontaine and her husband Paul of Pelham, NH,  Janet E Kelly and her husband Dennis of Hudson, NH, Linda H. Gangemi and her husband John of Merrimac, MA, Gary M Hardy and his wife Kim (his favorite daughter in law) of Londonderry NH, and Kevin A Hardy of Pelham, NH; 5 grandchildren Ryan and Liam Kelly of Hudson, NH, Steven Hardy of Newmarket, NH, Kaitlyn Lafontaine of Pelham, NH and David Gangemi of Merrimac, MA; two brothers and best friends,  Norman M Hardy and his wife Linda of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Frederick E Hardy and his wife Janet of Weymouth, MA; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and dear friends John and Cathy Florence of Lowell, MA.
