Ronald “Ron” E. Bedard, 89, of Pelham, NH, passed away on June 28, 2020 with his devoted family by his side. Ron was a lifelong resident of Pelham, dedicated member of St. Patrick Parish, army veteran and proud business owner of Pelham Building Supply.
Ron was born on May 27, 1931 in Pelham, NH to the late Arthur and the late Georgiana (Rondeau) Bedard. Growing up, Ron was one of 17 children. As one of the youngest siblings, he was always fun to be around and loved to make everyone laugh. He was a hard worker, a generous man and always put family and friends first. On April 26, 1957, Ron married his true love Roberta “Bobbi” (Hardy) Bedard. Over 63 years, Ron and Bobbi had a beautiful life together raising four children. Once the children were grown, Ron and Bobbi enjoyed spending time at their vacation home in The Villages, FL, where Ron played golf most every day. They also spent many years traveling together. Ron also belonged to the Pelham Fish and Game Club and loved to snowmobile.
In his early life, Ron served two years in the army overseas. Discharged in 1954, Ron began a career in construction working days at Eastern Garage Door and nights welding for Craig Systems. Ron started his first business, Bedard Brothers, in late 1950. After many years of experience, he established Pelham Plate Glass in 1973. Ron and his son, Mark, grew the business from the ground up into today’s Pelham Building Supply. Ron was also a charter member of Salem Contractor’s Association.
Ron is survived by his wife Roberta “Bobbi” (Hardy) Bedard of Pelham, NH; his son Mark Bedard and wife Lisa of Pelham, NH; his daughter Robin (Bedard) MacPherson and husband Donald of Salem, NH; his son Douglas Bedard and wife Diane of Pelham, NH; daughter Michele (Bedard) McGravey and husband William of Derry, NH; his grandsons Mathew Janos and wife Lindsay, Brian MacPherson and wife Lauren, Todd MacPherson and partner Victoria White, Ryan Bedard; his granddaughters Ashley Merrill and husband Raymond, Kyle McGravey, Lindsey Bedard and Anna Bedard-Hatch and husband Nick Hatch, and Taylor Bedard; his great-granddaughters Lainey and Morgan Merrill; his brother Arthur “Dun” Bedard; and his sisters Carmen Nical, Jackie Blanchette and husband Phil, and Muriel “Teechie” Paradis and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by twelve siblings.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family held a private funeral service at St. Patrick’s Church with burial in the Gibson Cemetery in Pelham, NH. E-condolences at www.pelhamfuneralhome.com.
