Shirley M. Nicolosi
Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend
Shirley M. (Mathison) Nicolosi, 96, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 13th at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was the proud wife of the late James Domenic Nicolosi who served in WWII and very proud mother of three sons Peter Nicolosi, the late Carl Nicolosi and the late Ronald Nicolosi.
Born in Methuen, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Emil and the late Cora (Bragdon) Mathison, she received her education in the Methuen school system.
A Methuen native, she was employed with Raytheon Corporation in Andover. She loved retirement living in Barefoot Bay, Florida and Santa Clarita, California where she made many close friends whom she loved dearly.
Shirley was a spirited force and fiercely independent. She was always laughing and full of mischief in those gorgeous blue eyes. Devout in her faith, she was sure to say “Thank you Jesus” for the daily blessings awarded to her. She was the life of the party in her leopard print outfits and all her jewelry, telling a funny joke or singing a song. She would say “give him a kiss behind the left ear for me, but don’t tell him who it is from.” She lit up a room with her beautiful smile and she always gave the best hugs and would say “don’t stop don’t stop” and not let you go. When you told her “I love you” she would say “I love you more” and she meant it.
Shirley is survived by a son Peter Nicolosi and his wife Lois; six grandchildren Karen, Carl, Kathryn, Sally, Jodi and Peter; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also sister of the late Madeline Vignola.
